Fresh, Healthy Menu
With a fully licensed, commercial-grade kitchen, our school chef prepares, on a daily basis, a variety of nutritious foods made from locally-sourced and fresh ingredients. In addition, our menu is low in sodium and sugar, includes selections from each of Canada’s Food Groups, and is dietitian approved. We are attentive to our children with individual needs (i.e. allergies, ethnic values, age), and we are happy to modify our menu to cater to these needs as requested.
Our Menu
Inspired Little Eaters
To help children learn about new foods, we:
- Offer a variety of different foods based on Canada’s Food Guide, Eating Well with Canada’s Food Guide, and York Region’s ‘A Public Health Guide for Child Care Providers’
- Incorporate a variety of colours, shapes, temperatures, and textures to promote variety
- Serve new foods along with familiar foods
- Promote and support diversity by including dishes that reflect various cultures and traditions.
Everyday, we serve 1 meal and 2 snacks with a total of 4 choices of vegetables and fruits, 2 choices of grain products, 2 choices of milk and alternatives, and 1 choice of meat and alternatives.
Filtered water is always made available to drink, including between meal and snack times.
Most of our grain products are whole grain. Foods from each food group is prepared with little or no added fat, sugar, or salt.
